Mario Merz (1925-2003) was an Italian artist and a leading figure of the Arte Povera movement. His work is characterized by the use of simple and natural materials, such as glass, wax, metal, and found objects, through which he explored the relationship between nature, science, and society. Best known for his igloo installations—symbols of shelter and the connection between humans and the environment—Merz also employed the Fibonacci sequence to represent energy and organic growth. His works are featured in major museums and international collections.
