At the beginning of the 1960’s, a group of young roman artists form the “School of Piazza del Popolo”, an artistic movement that meets in the nearby Caffè Rosati or within the galleries that populated Via del Babuino. Their responsiveness to other european and american artistic movements of that age, such as New Dada, Nouveu Réalisme and an initial Pop Art determines their evolution from gestual art towards the combine-painting and the replacing of the traditional tools with industrial material and paint.

Tano Festa pushes aside time boundaries by establishing a form of communication with 1500’s extraordinary tuscan artist Michelangelo Buonarotti. He will accomplish that by quoting in pop art key some of his masterpieces like ‘The Creation of Adam’ from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel or scupltures from the Medici Chapel in Florence.
