Luigi Ontani (Montovolo, Bologna, 1943) is an Italian painter and sculptor, a key figure in Body Art. Since the 1970s, he has experimented with various artistic techniques (photography, painting, sculpture), often using his own body to explore the ambiguity and complexity of human identity. Famous for his tableaux vivants, where he appears as both author and model, Ontani has developed a unique artistic language blending myth, fairy tale, and Eastern and Western cultures. From photographic works to papier-mâché, wood, porcelain, and blown glass creations, his research merges irony, craftsmanship, and a fascination with the exotic.
