Enzo Cucchi

Enzo Cucchi, born in 1949 in Morro D’Alba (Ancona), is a self-taught painter who initially focused on poetry before transitioning to visual art in Rome during the 1970s. He became associated with the Transavanguardia movement, characterized by a departure from the avant-garde of the 1960s and a focus on personal expression. Cucchi’s work combines figurative and abstract elements, often drawing inspiration from landscapes, legends, and traditions of his native region. He has exhibited internationally since the 1980s and has collaborated with architects on various projects, including the construction of a chapel in Switzerland. Cucchi also has a background in set design, having worked on productions for opera and theater. He currently lives and works in Rome and Ancona.
